At Indicold, We Care—about the planet, about innovation, and about building a future-ready cold supply chain. As the demand for sustainable logistics grows, the industry must evolve to meet environmental goals while ensuring efficiency. That’s why we are proud to take a bold step forward—becoming the first Indian company to join the Move to -15°C movement, a global initiative reshaping the frozen food industry.
What is the Move to -15°C Initiative?
For almost a century, -18°C has been the standard for frozen food storage and transportation. But with advancements in technology and a growing focus on sustainability, experts are now challenging this norm.
Launched at COP28, the Move to -15°C coalition is backed by independent research from the University of Birmingham, exploring how a small shift in temperature—from -18°C to -15°C—can create a massive impact on energy savings and carbon reduction. The research highlights:
🌍 17.7 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions reduced annually—equivalent to taking millions of cars off the road.
⚡ 5-7% energy savings across the global cold chain, cutting operational costs and improving efficiency.
💡 25 terawatt hours of electricity saved worldwide—enough to power millions of homes.
This initiative isn’t just about changing a number—it’s about rethinking efficiency, sustainability, and the future of food security.
Indicold Joins the Movement—Leading Change in India
As the first Indian company to embrace the Move to -15°C, we at Indicold are committed to pioneering sustainable solutions in cold storage. Our journey is one of innovation, efficiency, and responsibility.
As the first Indian company to join the #MoveToMinus15 movement, #Indicold is proud to collaborate with global leaders like DP World, A.P. Moller – Maersk, Lineage, Emirates, Nomad Foods, Morrisons, Aviko, Constellation Cold Logistics, and many more to drive meaningful change in the frozen food supply chain.
Our efforts align perfectly with India’s growing focus on sustainable infrastructure, ensuring that businesses can meet global standards while reducing their carbon footprint.
How Indicold is Driving Change
At Indicold, we are already redefining India’s cold storage landscape. Our Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) cold storage facilities are built for efficiency, sustainability, and precision.
✅ Next-Gen Energy-Efficient Refrigeration – Optimized systems that minimize power consumption.
✅ Intelligent Automation – Reducing temperature fluctuations and product waste.
✅ Helping Businesses Meet COP28 Goals – Supporting companies in achieving their sustainability commitments.
With India’s first frozen ASRS facility operational and a second one launching this month, we are setting new benchmarks in automated cold storage. Our goal is to empower food businesses, reduce energy waste, and build a greener supply chain.
The Road Ahead: A More Sustainable Cold Chain
The Move to -15°C movement is more than a temperature shift—it’s a mindset shift. It’s about rethinking traditional practices and embracing data-driven, sustainable innovations.
By joining forces with global leaders in this coalition, Indicold is ensuring that India is not just keeping up but leading the way in the future of cold chain logistics.
A special thank you to the Move to -15°C team and researchers at the University of Birmingham for driving this transformative initiative. We are excited to be part of a global effort that’s setting new standards for efficiency, sustainability, and food security.
At Indicold, We Care—and this is just the beginning.
