Indicold, India’s innovation-driven cold chain company, proudly announces the launch of its second fully automated frozen facility — a cutting-edge 10,000-pallet ASRS warehouse, marking a major step forward in revolutionizing the nation’s cold chain infrastructure.

In 2024, Indicold made history by commissioning India’s first fully automated high-bay frozen ASRS warehouse in Dholasan, Gujarat — a landmark achievement that set new benchmarks in temperature-controlled logistics. Building on the success of this 7,500+ pallet facility, the company has now launched its second fully automated warehouse in record time, reaffirming its commitment to scalable innovation and future-ready cold chain infrastructure.

A Cold Chain Built for the Future

India’s cold storage and warehousing sector, valued at over INR 2,00,000 crores in 2024, is projected to more than double by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 16%. With increasing demand from food processing, pharmaceuticals, exports, and e-commerce, Indicold is shaping a resilient infrastructure to meet the needs of tomorrow.

Located in Detroj, Gujarat, the new facility is central to Indicold’s mission: building a sustainable, future-ready cold supply chain — enabling nutritious food, safe healthcare, and high-quality products for all.

“At Indicold, we care — about the people who make the cold chain run, the community we live in, the environment we operate in, and the product integrity we protect.”- Kartik Jalan, Founder, Indicold.

The facility was introduced at a specially curated Supply Chain Conference — Indicold NXT — led by Indicold’s founders, who were joined by leading voices in procurement and supply chain from the food, dairy, and ice cream industries. The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mr. K.K. Jalan, a distinguished 1982-batch IAS officer from the Haryana cadre and former Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, whose continued contributions across industries and public service remain an inspiration.

Why This Facility Matters

What makes this launch truly unique is that it marks India’s first deployment of a Four-Way Shuttle ASRS system in the frozen segment — a breakthrough not just in automation, but in adaptability. Unlike traditional systems, this technology can be retrofitted into existing warehouses, allowing for significant space optimization and operational efficiency without the need for entirely new infrastructure.

Indicold’s initiative is already making waves in the industry. The company’s first rack-clad frozen facility has directly inspired two similar cold storage projects currently under construction, and many more manufacturers and 3PL providers are now actively exploring this model to modernize their own supply chains.

“We feel humbled and privileged to have sparked this movement toward smarter, more sustainable infrastructure,” said Niharika Jalan, Founder Indicold. “Our hope is that this sets the stage for a new era of cold chain transformation — where innovation and efficiency go hand in hand.”

Key Features:

  • 10,000 plus-pallet fully automated frozen ASRS
  • Precision temperature control for -20°C
  • Integrated WMS for real-time traceability
  • Energy-efficient design to minimize temperature loss

Strategic Significance

This facility exemplifies Indicold’s long-term vision for sustainable infrastructure and technological leadership. It supports a wide spectrum of stakeholders — from agri-food businesses and QSR brands to FMCG majors and exporters.

By closely partnering with our customers in defining markets and requirements, conceptualizing innovative options, and delivering design-forward cold chain solutions, we help enhance product integrity, reduce supply chain losses, and serve the end consumer with greater care and consistency.

Crucially, these next-gen warehouses create upskilling opportunities in roles traditionally absent from cold storage — from automation engineers to software developers — empowering a new generation of supply chain professionals.

“When we built our first facility, we focused on delivering value first. Today, with real experience behind us, we’re taking the next step forward, with humility and a clear purpose.” said Mr. Jalan.

The facility is aligned with national initiatives like PM Gati Shakti, encouraging palletized cargo and infrastructure efficiency, while also contributing to COP28 climate goals through low-GWP refrigerants and sustainable design.

Built on Proven Innovation

Following the successful launch of India’s first fully automated frozen ASRS facility in Dholasan, Indicold is once again setting new industry standards. This latest launch reinforces the company’s leadership in creating a transparent, tech-powered, and sustainable cold chain ecosystem.

“This new facility reflects our vision to future-proof India’s cold chain ecosystem. It’s not just about capacity — it’s about building resilient, tech-driven infrastructure that ensures food security, supply chain transparency, and sustainability,”Mr Kartik Jalan, Founder & CEO, Indicold.
